On a southern slope, the village of Ortho is dominated by the tower of its church, where long farms are concentrated, sometimes accompanied by perpendicular annexes. Deep volumes and old houses listed as part of Wallonia's Monumental Heritage, generally parallel to the streets, sometimes from the 18th century but mainly from the 19th and 20th centuries, made of schist, sometimes limed, with brick or stone window frames. The dwellings are often open to the south at the gable end and generally have two levels. Stables and sheepfolds under the first floor barn. Hipped, slate or cherbain roofs. Dependent on the abbey of Saint-Hubert, Ortho was a court of justice. Ortho is also a hotel restaurant, a gîte in the former nuns' school, a discotheque which has been in operation since 1952 and a DIY shop... 11 walks totalling 70 km will lead you to discover a remarkable natural heritage, including the listed site of Hérou (walk no. 1), the Hatilles site, the Mousny pebbles, the Cens sweetbread foundry, the Chaupré ⤦ oil mill and, of course, the Ourthe and the Nisramont dam. For its part, history has left the Ban d'Ortho with precious remains, including the "Cheslin", a refuge from the Lower Empire, or the chapel of Hervlinval built in 1627.Ortho has, in its ban, several villages in a magnificent green setting. Nisramont, Hubermont, Mousny, Warempage, Herlinval, Floumont, Buisson, Roupage, Hives, Thimont, Vieux-Pont, Ferme-au-Pont and Vieux Château.
